Stabilising leadership and delivery when pressure is rising
We work with CEO's and MD's of engineering and industrial businesses when delivery commitments are under scrutiny and control needs to be restored quickly and credibly.
When pressure is rising - from the board, customers or the organisations itself - Rufus Wren helps take the heat off, stabilise delivery, and ensure leadership can execute with confidence.
Who We Work With
Rufus Wren works with successful engineering and industrial businesses where:
1. Delivery commitments carry real commercial consequence
2. Performance issues are visible at board or customer level
3. Too much responsibility is sitting with the CEO or MD
4. Clarity, pace and control needs to be restored
5. Growth or complexity has outpaced leadership capacity
What we do
Rufus Wren provides targeted, time-bound interventions at moments that matter.
We do not offer open-ended consulting, generic frameworks, or day-to-day operational ownership.
Our work is focused on stabilisation first, execution second.
As your trusted partner we offer two routes to relief:
For Immediate Impact
Delivery and Leadership Stabilisation
For Immediate Impact and Sustained Solutions
Leadership Realignment & Execution
Delivery & Leadership Stabilisation
3–4 weeks
A short, focused intervention designed to reduce pressure, restore control, and create confidence when delivery commitments are under scrutiny.
This phase typically focuses on:
- Stabilising delivery risk
- Clarifying priorities and ownership
- Addressing leadership misalignment at n-1 and n-2
- Restoring confidence upwards (board / customers)
- Agreeing a clear, credible plan of action
Outcome: Pressure eases. Control is restored. A clear, owned plan exists.

Leadership Realignment & Execution
6 months
Where appropriate, we work with the CEO and leadership team to execute the agreed plan and embed the leadership behaviours required to sustain delivery.
This phase focuses on:
- Realigning leadership roles and expectations
- Ensuring leaders operate at the right level
- Embedding execution ownership and cadence
- Preventing pressure reverting back to the CEO
- Reinforcing leadership behaviour in context
Outcome: Leadership steps up. Delivery holds. Pressure does not return.
If delivery commitments are under scrutiny and pressure needs to come off quickly, an early conversation can help clarify the next steps.
